Call for Papers

We invite researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to submit their original contributions to the 20th IEEE SOSE (Service Oriented System Engineering), focusing on advancements and challenges in Service-Oriented Architectures. This conference provides a platform to discuss cutting-edge research, emerging trends, and practical insights into modern service-based systems, including microservices, serverless architectures, API management, AI-driven services, and software engineering best practices. Join us in shaping the future of service-oriented computing through impactful discussions and high-quality research contributions.

Paper Types

Full Papers (10 pages, plus 2 pages with references)
・Provide a comprehensive and detailed exploration of novel research findings, methodologies, or theories.
・Include validation, evaluation, empirical studies, or extensive case studies to support the contribution.
・Target researchers and practitioners seeking an in-depth understanding of the topic.
・All Full Papers are included in the conference proceedings.
Short Papers (5 pages, plus 1 page with references)
・Present preliminary findings and first results of your research.
・Aim to foster discussion and feedback from the community on emerging work.
・All Short Papers are included in the conference proceedings.
Vision Papers (4 pages, plus 1 page with references)
・Propose innovative ideas and exciting new directions in early stages of your research, supported by initial evidence.
・Encourage the community in discussions about the evolution of the discipline and its strategic goals.
・All Vision Papers are included in the conference proceedings.
Demonstration Papers (4 pages, plus 1 page with references)
・Demonstrate tools, frameworks, or systems with live tech demos that highlight novel contributions to the field.
・Provide a video that presents the demonstration.
・You may provide access to your open-source code to enable reproducibility.
・Include a “How to Install and Run” ReadMe to support readers in the demonstration (e.g., provide Docker Images, etc.).
・All Demonstration Papers are included in the conference proceedings.

Evaluation Criteria

Papers submitted to the Research Track will be assessed based on the following criteria. Authors should ensure that their papers clearly address each criterion and justify their contributions. Reviewers will carefully consider all these criteria during the review process.

1. Novelty: The originality and innovativeness of the proposed solutions, problem formulations, methodologies, theories, and/or evaluations. This measures how the paper stands out compared to the current state-of-the-art.
2. Rigor: The soundness, clarity, and depth of the technical or theoretical contributions, as well as the thoroughness and completeness of the evaluation.
3. Relevance: The importance and potential impact of the research on Service-Oriented Systems.
4. Reproducibility and Transparency: The degree to which the paper provides sufficient information to understand the innovation, including how data was obtained, analyzed, and interpreted. This also includes the paper’s support for independent verification or replication of its claims. Any attached or linked artifacts will be reviewed.
5. Presentation: The clarity of the paper’s contributions and their visual appearance.

Submission Guidelines

Researchers interested in submitting their work should follow these guidelines to ensure proper submission and compliance with the review process:
Original Research
・All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
Paper Title Naming
・If you are submitting a Short Paper, Vision Paper, or Demonstration Paper, you must prefix the title as follows:
・Short Paper: [Title]
・Vision Paper: [Title]
・Demonstration Paper: [Title]
・For a Full Paper, no prefix is needed.
・Note: These prefixes will be removed in the Camera-Ready version published in the final proceedings.

Double-Blind Review Process
・Submissions will undergo a double-blind review, meaning both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.
・To comply with this process, authors must remove any identifying information from their manuscripts, including names, affiliations, and acknowledgments.
・Citations to the authors’ prior work should be written in a way that does not reveal authorship (e.g., “prior research [1]” instead of citing oneself directly)

Publications

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, IEEE CPS.
